1999 Alumnus of the Year PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the White Knights of Marion Military Institute are celebrating fifty years of exceptional and remarkable service; AND WHEREAS, the White Knights have represented the Institute at such important events as the Indianapolis 500, the Sugar Bowl and the United States Air Force Academy Drill Competition as well as on numerous other occasions throughout the nation; AND WHEREAS, the organization has established a national reputation as a precision drill team of the first order and by so doing its members have rendered a valuable and exceptional service as a representative of Marion Military Institute before countless spectators in places near and far; AND WHEREAS, determination, dedication and countless hours of diligent practice are necessary to achieve and maintain the high degree of proficiency required for precision drill; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED That each White Knight, past and present, is hereby designated ALUMNUS OF THE YEAR, 1999 Moreover, this proclamation shall be duly recorded in the Records of the Trustees of Marion Military Institute, and these presents shall be published as a permanent and visible token of the admiration, esteem, high regard, and gratitude in which the members of the White Knights are held. Furthermore, this proclamation will be posted in a conspicuous place in order that the service of the White Knights to Marion Military Institute will be well and long remembered. Brigadier General Tom Adams, President, Marion Military Institute presented this proclamation to Gene Hyche, MMI Class 1952, Co-Founder and First Commander of the White Knights '50 on April 24, 1999 during Alumni Weekend ceremonies honoring the 50th annivesary of the White Knights. |
